:: Application Process ::

Applications for Summer 2008 will be available in January 2008. Please fill out a contact form to be on the email distribution list for next year's program.

Eligibility
Students in all majors and at all class levels with a Cal Poly CUM GPA of 2.6 (or above) are eligible to participate. The program should be able to accommodate all eligible applicants; however, a priority basis will be followed should applications exceed the number of students the program can accommodate. First priority will be class standing, and within each class the order of selection will be from the highest GPA through the 2.6 minimum.

Qualifed individuals not formally enrolled at Cal Poly may join through Open University Enrollment with Program Director approval. Non-Cal Poly students must demonstrate that they meet the minimum GPA requirement at their home university.

Application Procedures

The application filing period for Summer 2007 is Monday, January 7 - Monday, March 3, 2008.

  1. Please go to My Cal Poly Portal and subscribe to the Study Abroad Application Channel. The Summer Study in London 2008 Program application can be completed in its entirety online.

  2. Submit $500 program fee deposit to the State Cashiers Office. If you are applying to the Optional Weekend Trip to Paris, you will need to submit an extra $50 ($550 for both program and field trip deposit)
    • Inform the State Cashier that you are applying to the Summer Study in London Program and that the funds should be deposited directly into your student account.
    • Request that they issue an extra receipt to you as you will need to provide Miriam Rabban with proof of your deposit with a receipt
  3. Complete and sign the below mentioned forms.

•  Summer Study in London FIE application form
•  Assumption of Risk and Release Agreement
•  Medical Information & Authorization Form
•  Student Participant Agreement

  1. Submit to Miriam Rabban the following: (1) above mentioned forms (2) four (4) passport photos (even if you have a valid passport) AND (3) a copy of the receipt you receive from the State Cashiers when you submit your $500 or $550 deposit.

    Ms. Rabban's office is located in the Math Building 38 Room 145. Her office hours are Mon-Wed and Fri 10am-12pm, Thurs 10-11am and Mon-Fri 2-4pm.

  2. Apply for a passport application if you have not already done so. Instructions can be found at the State Department web site http://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html.

    If you already have a valid passport, please check the expiration date on the passport. If your passport expires within six months of the date of entry into the UK , June 18, you could be denied entrance into the UK .

FIE Refund Policy

If a participant withdraws in writing by April 19, 2008, sixty days prior to the program arrival date, a maximum refund of 40% of the deposit paid will be refunded unless the applicant finds a qualified
student to replace them in the program.

In case of withdrawal by May 9, 2008, forty days prior to the program arrival date, the refund will be based on the balance of the program fee that remains unspent.

Please note that by this stage, housing commitments will have been made and alternative occupancy will be virtually impossible to arrange. In addition, any monies already committed on behalf of the program
participant will be deducted. The balance remaining will be refunded by FIE.

All requests to withdraw from the program and all requests for refunds must be submitted in writing, signed, and addressed directly to the Foundation for International Education (FIE), at 114 Cromwell Road, London, England SW7 4ES. Fax # is 011-44-207-591-7755.
